Lili Banking gains full control over Google Drive security with Florbs

Introduction

The importance of security for Lili Banking

Lili is a financial platform for small businesses in the US, offering advanced business banking with built-in accounting and tax preparation software in one easy-to-use solution. Handling sensitive customer and financial data daily, Lili treats information security as a top priority.

To protect their critical data and improve control over file sharing in Google Drive, Lili turned to Florbs.

"We knew we had to protect our file repository. With Florbs, we finally gained control over Google Drive sharing risks that were hard to handle before.”

Challenge

Need for tighter control over file sharing in Google Drive

As Lili grew, so did the complexity of their Google Drive environment. Without proper visibility and control, sensitive data was at risk of being leaked.

Lack of visibility into shared files
Employees freely shared files via Google Drive, often with external users or public links. The team lacked insight into who accessed what, and when. Lili was looking for a solution to better protect internal sensitive data when shared with external parties and in addition to help them with compliance audits, including PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and SOC 2.

Risky and unnecessary external access
On the very first day of using Florbs, audit revealed folders still shared with vendors Lili hadn’t worked with in over three years. These forgotten shares posed security risks. Additionally, some external parties had unnecessarily extensive access to company files.

No simple way to enforce security policies
The tools Lili tried previously and manual methods (like Google’s own DLP) were either not as effective as expected or too complex. Building an internal tool was also not an option due to time and cost.

Solution

Automated control and auditing of Google Drive file sharing with Florbs

Lili implemented Florbs to regain control over file access, and reduce risk of sensitive data exposure. They have implemented automated policies that remove external sharing and “Anyone with the link” sharing for files that contain sensitive information.

Ongoing monitoring and control
Florbs allows Lili to monitor Google Drive sharing continuously — not as a one-time clean-up project, but as a permanent, automated safeguard. Following the “Just In Time Access” security principle, Lili implemented automated policies that remove sharing from files that are not in use anymore, ensuring that access is removed as soon as it’s no longer needed, eliminating the unnecessary exposure risk.

Easy removal of risky shares
Florbs enables quick removal of public ("Anyone with the link") sharing and outdated external access, reducing the chance of accidental data exposure.

Fast and smooth setup
Lili’s setup with Florbs was completed very quickly, with all the data running on servers in the USA, as required by the company policy. Policies in Florbs are easily managed by the security team, without burdening the IT team.

“Setup was simple — it took just minutes. Implementing policies like removing “Anyone with the link” sharing is easy, and we now have full visibility over file sharing.”

Impact

Improved data security and control over Google Drive

With Florbs, Lili now confidently manages file sharing across its Google Workspace environment.

Reduced data exposure risks
Forgotten shares with old vendors and unnecessary public links are now detected and removed automatically, closing potential security gaps.

Ongoing protection, not just a one-time fix
File sharing is continuously monitored and controlled, ensuring that risky shares don’t build up again unnoticed.

Easy adoption
Lili avoided the costly and complex route of building an internal solution. Instead, they got a ready-to-use, effective tool with Florbs.

“That’s how it always is with security — nothing’s a problem until it suddenly is. Florbs saves us a lot of headaches down the road. And those headaches could easily turn into lost money and lawsuits if a customer’s data got exposed.”

Key takeaways

We asked Liran, CTO and Co-founder, and Omri, CISO at Lili banking, to share their advice for companies dealing with similar challenges.

Here is what they shared with us:

  1. Stay ahead of risks with continuous monitoring
Lili treats file sharing control as an ongoing process, not a one-time task — thanks to Florbs.

  2. Don’t rely on employees to set access rules
Depending on staff to manually label or manage file access is unrealistic. Automation with Florbs ensures company-wide control without user dependency.

  3. Simple solutions save time and effort
With Florbs, Lili gained an easy, reliable way to protect sensitive data in Google Drive.

“My advice to other companies using Google Drive? Get Florbs. You just can’t use an open system like Google Drive without an extra layer of security — trust me.”
